All About Heat Pumps Round 2:
We dive deeper into heat pumps, their systems, and how to apply them.

DATE: THURSDAY AUGUST 24th
TIME: 12 PM - 1 PM PST

MS Teams Meeting ID: 233 090 832 107     Passcode: TkpXE6

This webinar is a follow up to the introduction to heat pumps and will help you understand what heat pumps are and what is involved in choosing and designing for a properly functioning system. HP’s are a key answer to meet your heating requirements now that gas is, or will be, banned in many areas. With the move away from fossil fuels we will be using electricity to replace it. It is possible to use heat pumps that operate at ~500% efficiency instead of gas-fired at 95-ish% efficiency.
An example of some of the items we will be discussing:
· Heat Pumps and overview of Air and Water Source heat pumps systems –
· Components of a properly working Heat Pump / hydronic system.
o HPs – A/W source, dual source, Buffer Tanks, pumps, zone valves, controls, fans, piping, emitters
· Applications – 2 pipe, 4 pipe, heat / cool / simultaneous, single tank, two tank, …
· Buffer Tank Sizing and BT piping - two port, 3port or 4port tank?, tank baffles / diffusers?
· Controls – Setpoint, Outdoor Reset, DEWPOINT reset opens up possibility for radiant floor cooling
o Staging, backup, balance point, mixing, single temp, multi-temp, DHW,
o Desuperheater, heat recovery, dual source
· Operating parameters- How low can we go? (hint... it’s very low)…
· Engineering and Job Site considerations / pitfalls.
· Decarbonization for the future.
